Fridley 15 - Fridley Basketball Shooting Program

Fridley Youth Basketball and Fridley Varsity Basketball Programs are teaming up to help all players improve their shooting in the off season. Welcome to The Fridley 15!

Why do we call our shooting program The Fridley 15?

  • Because the goal is to take 15,000 shots, between today April 15 and Sept 15. See a pattern?

Does it seem like it's a lot?  Well check this out:

  • It only takes 15 minutes to take 100 shots.

Seems too hard to track?

  • Just track the minutes, not the shots.

Let’s to the math:

2,250 minutes = 15,000 shots.

15 minutes a day = 150 days of commitment.

30 minutes a day = 75 days of commitment.

Committing that amount of time over the next 5 months to become a better basketball player = priceless.

What you need to do:

  • Keep a running tally in a notebook showing the date and amount of time spent shooting. This is not about how many shots you made, but the time you put into taking shots.
  • Vary the type of shot and location on the court each day;

Example:

Layups day 1, jump shots day 2, three pointers day 3; or

Right handed layups 5 minutes, left handed layups 5 minutes, free-throws 5 minutes

  • Take game like shots. Practice shooting off the dribble, shooting off the pass, toss the ball in front of your and step into the shot.
  • Practice social distancing when getting your shots up.
  • Turn your tally sheets in at tryouts next fall.

Players who complete The Fridley 15 will receive bragging rights, a t-shirt and be recognized during a varsity game next season.
